Ada Scorda

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and nonna, Ada Scorda. Born on September 15, 1934, in Locri, Reggio Calabria, Italy. Ada passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, at the age of 91, in Vancouver, BC, in the loving presence of her son, daughter, and devoted family friend.

Ada was predeceased by her beloved husband, Salvatore Scorda; her son, Giuseppe (Darlene ♰), and her daughter, Maria Rosa (Vincenzo). Lovingly remembered by her son, Sammy (Dale); her daughter, Concettina (Matteo); and all her cherished grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends in Canada and Italy.

After joining her husband in Canada in 1968, Ada worked outside the home for a time, but her greatest calling was caring for her family. She expressed her love through homemade bread, fresh pasta, traditional Italian meals, and a home where everyone was always welcome. A talented artist, she created beautiful cross-stitch and crochet pieces by hand, gifting them to family and friends as lasting expressions of her love. This love was rooted in her Catholic faith, which served as the foundation of her life and guided her with strength, compassion, and gratitude.

Ada will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, unwavering devotion to her family, and the love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the countless memories she created with them.

The family would like to thank the care staff at Renfrew Care Center for their loving care of Ada during her last years. We are forever grateful for their support, compassion, empathy, patience, and exceptional care.

A visitation for family and friends will be held 3:00 p.m to 4:30 p.m, on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Kearney Burnaby Chapel. 

Prayers will be offered on Tuesday, August 18, at 8:00 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 2025 Napier Street, Vancouver. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 19, at 11:00 a.m., followed by entombment at Ocean View Burial Park, South Mausoleum. Celebration of Life will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Parish Hall following the entombment.
