Agnes (Aggie) Lorraine Bentley passed away on April 19, 2025 at her home in Vancouver, BC, at the age of 88 years. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 37 years Robert (Bob) A.N. Bentley. She will be remembered with love by her daughters Mary-Margaret (Peter), Colene; her son Noel (Jasmine); her granddaughter Georgina; and her sisters Kathy (Ted), Constance (Howard), and Rita (Rick), as well as by her extended family and many friends. She was predeceased by her siblings John (Betty), Marie (Leland), Elizabeth (Charlie), and Loretta.
Born in Regina, Aggie grew up on the prairies in a family of 8 children. She was close to her siblings throughout her life and they were among her closest friends, as were her children. Aggie had a career in modeling when she and Bob met; they married in 1960 and, after living in several different Canadian cities, they ultimately settled in the Toronto area, where Bob had his own business and Aggie was his executive assistant. After Bob’s death in 1997, Aggie moved back west—first to Calgary, then to Vancouver—to be close to her siblings, children, and grandchild.
Anyone who knew Aggie knew she had a generous heart, a playful sense of humour, and a strong creative expression. She always led with love. Her delights were simple and many. Walking with her was a slow process, as she would pause to admire flowers and dogs, take in the sunshine, and converse with people living on the streets and passersby. She enjoyed a cold beer on a hot day and boisterously cheering for her sports teams, especially when joined by family and friends. Even in her later years, as she struggled with declining health, she found joy in her surroundings always. Her strong faith helped define and support her throughout her life.
