A vibrant, handsome, blue eyed baby boy named Alick Joseph Lambert was born On April 2, 1938 at St. Paul’s Hospital Vancouver B.C. Son of William Joseph Lambert born in Wicklow, Ireland (1879-1968) and Mabel Mary Smith born in Glasgow, Scotland (1896-1983), brother of Hugh William Lambert (1932-2006) and Betty Mary Hepler (1929-1971).
Alick is survived by his wife Wilfreda Lambert and their only child, daughter Lorelei Lambert Magee.
Alick spent 35 years as an elementary school teacher and basketball coach at Surrey’s Green Timbers Elementary where he continued to substitute for 5 years after retirement. He was a proud recipient of the “World’s Greatest Teacher” award from the 1992-1993 students among other awards. He spearheaded the debate tournaments and leaded public speaking for the Surrey school district. When he retired the Green Timbers school named the playground after “Alick Lambert”.
A passionate teacher, avid World War II buff, family road trip educator, world traveller, resourceful household repairman, Animal lover, walking encyclopedia, larger than life positive attitude, lover of different cultures, devoted loving husband and the world’s best father.
We will deeply miss his infectious jokes and the laughter he brought to everyone. He was an unselfish man that was generous, helpful, unconditional and friendly to all those who crossed his path. His charismatic, fun loving, positive attitude will never be forgotten.
