Andrzej Henryk Jablczynski, known to many as Andrew, passed away in Vancouver on October 15, 2026, at the age of 80.
Andrew was born in Warsaw on June 12, 1946, the son of Eugeniusz and Helena Jablczynski. In 1958 his family emigrated to England in search of a more stable future. He was educated at Marian College, Fawley Court, Henley, and later at St Joseph’s College. Academically gifted, he went on to train at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London, fulfilling a path that had been his father’s own unfulfilled dream. He worked as an architect and designer in the United Kingdom and later in Canada, living first in Seattle and then making Vancouver his home.
While in London he also helped newly arrived Polish immigrants as they began their new lives. Friends in Vancouver remember a refined and gentle man, with a quiet sense of humour, a love of music, and a steady care for others. He lived simply and faithfully, with a strong devotion to St. Faustina Kowalska and the Divine Mercy. He took part in parish life, little faith study groups, and the Knights of Columbus, and remained close to those who looked after him and to friends who visited him week by week.
He is survived by his sister, Anna “Ania” Strunk, of London, England. He was predeceased by his parents, Eugeniusz and Helena Jablczynski, and by his sister Sophia Turner.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Vancouver.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory may be made to St. Anthony of Padua Parish.
May he rest in eternal peace.
