With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather on April 26, 2025, at the age of 83. He passed away peacefully on that day.
Born in Arrifes, Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, Tony was a devoted husband, proud father, beloved grandfather, and a true friend to many. He was known for his strength, honesty, and generosity—always ready to lend a hand, offer advice, or share a laugh. With steady hands and a steady heart, Tony built a life grounded in love, hard work, and joyful mischief.
He married the love of his life, Rita, in 1965, and together they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and lasting memories. Tony took great pride in gardening, found satisfaction in fixing anything that needed repair, and, most of all, cherished every moment spent with his family. He had a sharp wit and a sparkle in his eye—known for his practical jokes, quick one-liners, and stories that got better with every telling. He had a way of turning strangers into friends and ordinary days into unforgettable ones.
Tony is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rita Sousa; their children, Arnold Cordeiro (Amie), Teresa Sousa (Gabriela), Nelson Cordeiro (Christine), and Jimmy Sousa (Natasha); and his adored grandchildren; Anthony, Amelia, Kyara, Liam, Gabriella, Laura, Kaitlyn, and Emily. He is also survived by his sister and brother, Maria Cordeiro and Jose Adriano, brothers-in-law; Serafim, and Michael (Gabriele), as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins, and special friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Manuel and Maria Sousa; his brother, Manuel Sousa; and his sisters, Ana De Sousa and Conceição Sousa Melo.
Tony’s legacy is one of strength, laughter, and unwavering love. His humour, his stories, and his deep devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
