Barbara Lynne Thompson-Duguay

September 5, 1960 — April 7, 2026

It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Barbara Lynne Thompson-Duguay after a short and hard-fought battle with cancer.

Barbara was pre-deceased by her guiding light, her mother Joan Thompson. Barbara is survived and endlessly cherished by her children Stephanie (Stephen) and Michel (Ashley) and her grandchildren Emily, Elizabeth, Harrison and Norah. Barbara’s pride and joy were her children and grandchildren.

Barb is also survived by her father Garry (Catherine), siblings Michael (Holly), Darin (Tracey) and Blair (Gail). She will also be missed by nephews and nieces Blake, Sydney, Olivia, Gordon and Fraser.

In her personal and professional life, Barb was always looking after others. Whether surrounded by family or working in the hospitality, airline, or electrical industries, Barb lightened the mood and created a warm environment for everyone.

Barb was an adventurer at heart. She loved to travel and found great joy in exploring new places. Some of her happiest moments were spent in White Rock, BC, and visiting with her children and four beloved grandchildren.

Barbara’s quick wit, dry sense of humor, and incredible vocabulary were always on display—and kept us all on our toes. When not engaging with others, Barb enjoyed a good book, a classic movie, puzzles, word games, and the occasional glass of wine.

A private family ceremony will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Melville Hospice Home for their incredible care for Barbara. In lieu of flowers, donations in honour of Barbara to the Melville Hospice Home of the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.

And Barb, don’t worry all of us will continue to just play on through.
