Bernice passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, one day after her ninety-second birthday.
Born in Vancouver, Bernice grew up in South Vancouver. She attended John Oliver Secondary, where she played on softball, basketball, and tennis teams, and met her future husband, Charles. After graduating, she trained as a stenographer and worked as a secretary for Ford Motor Co. before marrying and raising her children in the Lynn Valley neighbourhood of North Vancouver.
Bernice volunteered at the Save the Children store in Vancouver, and was a volunteer tutor for elementary school children with dyslexia. She enjoyed knitting, gardening, walking, Hallmark movies, and going out for lunch. She was a gifted baker, and family gatherings always featured her delicious pies.
Bernice will be remembered by her son Gordon (Debbie), her daughter Susan, and her grandchildren Geoffrey (Nina) and Patrick. She was predeceased by her husband Charles in May 2025.
