Brian Herman Reeves Bridger

October 23, 1943 — November 26, 2025

New Westminster

In loving memory of Brian Bridger who passed away Wednesday November 26, 2025 at Royal Columbian Hospital peacefully with his daughter Lana by his side. He was 82.

Beloved father of Lana Monkkonen (Tony)of New Westminster, BC. Loving son to Harry & Jordis (predeceased). Loving brother to Debby Pennarun (Mark), Susan Ceccanese(Peter), Bob Thompson, Kim Radey (Tim), Wendy Cooper (Graham), Shelly Johnson (Jim), Harry Thompson (Linda), and Tracy Latendre (Tony predeceased) (Friend Andre) all of Ontario. Sadly, missed by many nieces and nephews.

Brian was born in Timmins, and settled in Garson, Ontario at the age of 6. Brian played baseball, hockey, and skied with many friends in his early years. He was a typical teenager, partner in crime, and not as perfect as you might think. As an adult he worked underground for a couple years and then became a Court Reporter prior to moving to British Columbia in 1973 with his family.

He loved BC, often stating to Lana that the mountain, ocean and lake views were one of his factors for staying here. He also claimed not to mind all the rain, as he said that not having to shovel the 10 feet or so of snow was a welcome change.

Brian became a familiar face to many through his later career as a cab driver. He witnessed countless stories and had many experiences behind the wheel. He loved driving and retired in May 2023 due to failing health. We remember Brian’s love of baseball, hockey and teaching tennis lessons. He was also a self-taught yoga enthusiast and an avid swimmer; he also enjoyed working out, until he no longer could.

He was a kind, gentle, and selfless man with a deep relationship with the Lord. Brian was dedicated to his church and had a passion for helping those in need. He also gave generously to several charities that he helped over the years.

He cherished Lana and Tony, and his connections with his family in Ontario.

Brian faced his illness with strength, determination, and hope while maintaining a sense of humour.

He will be deeply missed. We are grateful he is no longer suffering and in the arms of the Lord.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted”
