In Loving Memory of Bruce Baden MacNaughton

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Bruce Baden MacNaughton on July 8, 2026. His laughter, generosity, and zest for life will be deeply missed by his family and the many friends whose lives he touched.

Bruce was born in Toronto on April 5, 1960. When he was two years old, his family moved to Montreal, where he spent his childhood and teenage years. It was there that he discovered his lifelong passion for hockey. A natural athlete, Bruce excelled at many sports, but nothing compared to being on the ice with a hockey stick in his hands. He was a gifted player and was often the leading scorer on his team. His love of the game never faded—he was still playing hockey at the age of 65.

When Bruce was 18, his family moved to Simcoe, Ontario, where he played Junior B hockey for a few years. In 1982, the West called to him, and he set out for Vancouver. British Columbia remained his home for the rest of his life.

Bruce spent most of his working career in warehousing, eventually becoming a warehouse supervisor before retiring in 2015.

Bruce will be remembered for his easygoing nature, lively spirit, and remarkable ability to make people laugh. Equally memorable was his kindness and willingness to help others, often before being asked.

Bruce was predeceased by his beloved parents, Charles and Rita, whom he adored. He is lovingly remembered by his sisters, Debbie and Cynthia (Bill); his nieces, Tess, Sarah, Selena, and Jade; and his former wife and cherished friend, Lisa.

Bruce’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Though his passing has left an immeasurable void, the joy, laughter, and kindness he shared will never be forgotten.

A Celebration of Life is being planned, and the date has not yet been determined. Details will be announced once they become available.
