Catherine passed away peacefully at Czorny Alzheimer Centre surrounded by three of her six children on October 12th, 2010 at the age of 78.  Cathy was born in Waldheim, Saskatchewan on August 21, 1932 to John Peter and Agnetha (Nettie) Teichrob.  She moved to the big city of Vancouver with her best friend Mary at 19 years of age, where she worked as a telephone operator for BC Tel, and soon after, met her future husband James Paul Lynch.   They married in October 1953 at Immaculate Conception Parish, where she was baptized as a Catholic and continued to attend mass every Sunday.   Cathy made a career as a legal secretary while raising 6 children and eventually retired from Russell & Dumoulin at the age of 62.  Her retirement gift was a road bike, a clear indication of her new passion for cycling, and the beginning of her extremely athletic retirement years.   Retirement allowed the time for her to pursue anything and everything she had ever wanted to try: cycling, golfing, hiking, tennis, badminton, ballroom dance, the game of bridge and much more…there simply wasn’t enough time. Cathy is survived by her 6 children Christopher (Bev), Paula Taylor, Julie (Morris) Vardabasso, Wendy McPhail, Linda (Tim) O’Heron and Bernadette.  She was so proud of her grandchildren Lindsay, Melissa (great-grandson Reece), Kevin, Christopher, Anthony, Natalie, Olivia, Cody, Adrianne and Janelle.  Cathy is survived by her brother Dan Teichrob and predeceased by her brothers Peter, Jake, Frank, Bill, the twins John & Henry and sisters, Agatha, Nettie and Mary. Cathy will be missed by her long-term companion Robert Helms, whom she loved and shared countless activity and travel adventures with.  Words cannot express our gratitude for Janette Dunbar, mom’s loyal friend and daily visitor. Also, heartfelt thanks to the amazing staff of Czorny Alzheimer Centre who consistently offered dignity and respect to our beloved mother who we love and will miss dearly.  A Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, 3776 W. 28th Avenue, Vancouver on Saturday, October 16th at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations are made to the Alzheimer Society of BC:  http://www.alzheimerbc.org/Get-Involved/Donate.aspx.
