Cecilia Fu-Kuan (Chiang) Tsang 鄭扶坤, aged 70, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, with family by her side.
Born in 1954 in Macau, she was the youngest of three children. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Lazarus' Catholic Church, the beginning of a lifelong devotion to her faith. After completing primary and secondary education in Macau, she pursued further studies in Taiwan, graduating from the National Taiwan Normal University with a B.Ed. in Educational Psychology. She worked as a counsellor before immigrating to Canada in the 1980s.
After arriving in Canada, Cecilia became a devoted parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Parish, first through C.C.Y.O. and SFX Choir, and later through different prayer groups and sodalities including the Third Order of the Congregation of St. John the Baptist, Ladies Club, Cursillo Movement in Chinese and the Serra Club of Vancouver. In her later years, she spent much time praying in the adoration chapel and dedicated herself in humble service to the care of the church and its gardens.
Outside of the parish, she sang with various choirs over the years, most notably the Vancouver Chinese Choir Association, and she volunteered extensively with local organizations including S.U.C.C.E.S.S.
Cecilia is survived by her son, Dennis. May she rest in the peace of Christ.
Cecilia’s funeral Mass will be held on Thursday October 9, 10:30am at St. Francis Xavier Church, 438 Great Northern Way, Vancouver, with inurnment at the Gardens of Gethsemani at a later date.
