Dawn Mary Patricia Dutrizac-Larose

Dawn Mary Patricia Dutrizac‑Larose, 71, passed away suddenly on 25 August 2026 at her home in New Westminster, BC, due to complications from pulmonary hypertension.

Born in Montreal and raised in St. Lambert, Dawn studied early childhood education in Lennoxville, where she met her future husband, Paul. After living in Ontario and supporting Paul’s early career, she embraced a move to British Columbia to be closer to family and to escape winter weather.

In BC, Dawn built a long and respected career in real estate, working with a number of agencies, most recently Park-Georgia and serving on the board of the Burnaby–New Westminster–Tri‑Cities Division of the Greater Vancouver Real Estate Board. She retired in 2019 to devote more time to her many creative passions.

Dawn was endlessly artistic — exploring jewelry making, beading, metalwork, enameling, watercolours, acrylics, and even embellishing denim jackets. She was active with the Hastings Centre Rockhounds, taught torch‑enameling classes, participated in Century House craft programs, and served on the Arts New West board, where she was a familiar face at local craft markets.

She loved gardening, a passion inherited from her father, Victor. Dawn was a longtime member of the New Westminster Horticultural Society and happily organized the tea service for many years. She also enjoyed golf for its social connection, rarely keeping score except for pars and birdies, and often helped with tournaments and events.

Travel was one of Dawn’s greatest joys. She found ways to celebrate her birthday somewhere warm each year and delighted in meeting new people wherever she went — often running into someone she knew, much to Paul’s amazement.

Dawn is survived by her husband Paul; her brother William, his wife Charlene, and their son Victor; and extended family on Paul’s side, Bob and Beryl and their children, along with many cherished friends and colleagues.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, 17 September at 10:00am at Kearney Columbia‑Bowell Chapel, 219 Sixth Street, New Westminster, BC, with interment at Pacific Heritage Cemetery, Burnaby.
