Donna Lee Peddie

Peddie, Donna Lee passed away suddenly Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at the age of 78 after a brief illness. Donna passed in her home as she had always wished, with her son by her side. She is survived by her son, Andrew Jock Peddie who misses her terribly. Donna had clearly stated her wishes before the end and wished to focus on life more than mulling over death. Therefore, Donna chose to have no ceremony and elected for a simple cremation. Her ashes will be scattered in one of her favorite places in a small private gathering during spring, her favorite time of year.

Donna lived! She threw her heart into experiencing life to the fullest. Donna looked clearly at the world and constantly shared the beauty she found whether it was an interesting rock, a newly budded flower, the sound of the breeze, a crack of thunder, the rumble of a train or the simple play of sunlight on the lawn. Donna made sure those around her never neglected to see and feel the wonderful parts of the world. To balance things out, she was willing to kick the butts of those who chose to darken the world.

Donna had a varied and successful work life including legal secretary, clerk for the Department of Defense and clerk for the RCMP. Her final position was her proudest: Working for the Surrey school board helping students find a career. She loved her kids and they loved her in return. Donna found paths for so many that had no direction and found creative ways to open them up to looking at their future. Students often turned to her as a mother, seeking gentle advice rather than harsh official counseling. In this, she truly saved at least two lives; one from dangers at home and another who had lost all hope. Donna will always be remembered by those she touched.

Donna was a wonderful mother who sacrificed repeatedly so her son could grow to have a brighter future. She brought joy, comfort, safety and a love of learning. True gifts. The love that remains after her passing stands tribute to that.
