Gerald Wade Soper

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gerald (Gerry) Wade Soper, a beloved husband, father, grandpa and friend. Gerry passed away suddenly at home in New Westminster, British Columbia, on Tuesday, December 9th, 2025, at the age of 73.

Gerry was predeceased by Victoria De Fazio, his partner of 26 years, and his brother Bill Soper. He will be sadly missed and forever loved by his wife Janet Soper, daughter Nicole Soper (James), stepdaughter Denise Marshall (Peter), stepdaughter Sherie Etches (David) & step-grandchildren Nicholas, Megan & Katie, stepson Andrew Eyre, sister Judy Phillips (Jim), and brother Tim Soper. Gerry is also survived by niece Joanne Hulme (Brent) and great-nephews Wyatt & Winston, and niece Jessica Sousa (Mark).

Gerry was born in Chilliwack, British Columbia on October 30, 1952, and spent his school age years in North Delta. He went on to work at Scott Paper for many years as a foreman, as well as Coquitlam Towing and then at Rona, before retiring in 2023.

Gerry was a member of the Legion Local #2 in New Westminster where he met his current wife Janet and spent many good times there with a close-knit group of friends. He was also an avid golfer and spent many hours on the golf course with his buddies. They shared a lot of laughs together and he will be sorely missed. Gerry also loved gardening and taking care of their backyard patio and devoted many hours to maintaining the common area garden as well. He also enjoyed spending a lot of time in the kitchen cooking wonderful meals for his family and friends.

Gerry, you left us too soon, but you will live on in our hearts & memories!

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
