With sadness, we announce the passing of Gloria Louise Munro on June 29 at age 81.
Gloria was born in Red Deer, Alberta, to parents Harold and Annie Greenhow and spent most of her young life in Flin Flon, Manitoba, where she met and then married Robert (Bob) Munro in 1964. They traced a path across the Prairies, living for a short time in Saskatchewan, before putting down firm roots in Surrey, B.C.
Married for 36 years, they raised three boys — Harold (Susanne), Danny (Cathie) and Marvin —before Bob's passing in 2000. Over the years Gloria joyfully doted on her seven grandchildren — Robert, Daniel (Tanya), Emma, Valerie, James, Laura and Andrew — who all adored their "Grandma Bob." She was an integral part of their upbringing and attended all celebrations and milestones.
Gloria is survived by sister Linda (Arthur) and brother Gordon (Lynn); and predeceased by brothers Allan (Dianne) and David (Marsha). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and cherished friend of more than five decades, Edna Barnes.
Gloria will be remembered for the kindness she showed everyone around her — and whenever we hear an Elvis song.
A memorial service will be held for Gloria at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 9 at Immaculate Conception Parish, located at 8842 119th Street in North Delta. The service will be followed by a reception in the adjoining gathering area.
