Our beloved father, loving husband, and wonderful man, Gordon John “Jack” Forbes, peacefully passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at the age of 95.
He was surrounded by his two daughters, Sandy and Donnalyn, and his son, Gordon. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Ellen Rennie, now in her 94th year, the spouses of Sandy (Stephen), and Gordon (Heather), his three grandsons, Stuart, Christopher and Geoffrey, 4 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved, and who loved him very much.
Jack is now reunited with his beautiful wife, our mother, Mary, who sadly left us in 2023. Jack met Mary through work and together they enjoyed a long, wonderful life, filled with adventure, travel, family and many friends. We take comfort that they are happily together again.
Jack was born, and grew up, in Montreal. Despite being an only child, he had many cousins with whom to spend his childhood years. His own father, Gordon, passed away young but his mother, Rose, spent many holidays with Jack, Mary and the family.
Family meant everything to Jack. Mary had a large family which led to many vacations with multiple beloved sisters and brothers-in-law, where the laughs were endless.
Anyone that knew Jack knows that golf was a HUGE passion for him, playing it, watching it live on TV and in person over the years, including attending the Masters twice, as well as several other top PGA tournaments. Jack loved all sports, and in his youth also played and coached hockey and baseball.
Jack and the family moved a lot due to his work. They lived in various places in Canada including Montreal, Ottawa, St John’s Newfoundland, (and one short adventure over-seas). In the early 2000’s Jack and Mary settled in Langley, British Columbia, eventually moving to downtown Vancouver, next to beautiful Stanley Park, to live out their golden years.
We wish to thank Vancouver Coastal Health for helping to care for Jack these last few years, allowing him to stay in his lovely home with us. We know he was a favourite among many of the staff and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
We LOVE you DAD
