MacDonald, Gwynneth Margaret (Griffith). Born March 15, 1925 in Penticton, passed away on February 8, 2023 in Vancouver.
Predeceased by her husband Douglas Keith MacDonald, she is remembered as Mom by her children Ian (Wendy), Max (Karen), Andy (Georgina), Maggie (Carl) and Cam (Paulina); and as Gaga by grandchildren David, Mairi, Griff, Kenzie, Garde, Jason, Josh, Schuyler, Rosie, Emory and Mila.
Gwyn grew up in Victoria, which she left for Halifax at the age of 18 to serve with the Women's Royal Naval Service as a decoder. After the war she graduated from UBC and worked briefly as a social worker, before she went on to her real life's work as a mother of five. Well known as the neighbourhood cop (strictly volunteer) to all putative ne'er-do-wells who passed her house on the way to Prince of Wales High School, she eventually retired from that position and softened into her role as grandmother of eleven.
We would like to express our immense gratitude to the caring staff of Purdy One; and particular gratitude to Mom's companion Beatriz Suyat, who loved Gaga and kept her comfortable for years. Bea's contribution cannot be overstated. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to your charity of choice.
