On Sunday, November 30, 2025, Hanifa (Hennie) Lobo—beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend—passed away at the age of 98 surrounded by her family.
Hennie was born on April 8, 1927, in Hong Kong. While training to become a nurse, she met the love of her life, Kenneth John Lobo. The two married in Kenya on October 4, 1954, and went on to travel the world together while raising their three children: Helen, Donald, and Tina.
Hennie embraced life with curiosity, creativity, and warmth. She loved gardening, cooking, travelling, painting, sewing, needlework, knitting, crocheting, and music. Her spacious kitchen was a gathering place for family and friends—filled with conversation, laughter, and the aroma of her delicious meals. Visitors rarely left without a handmade dishcloth, a treat from her kitchen, or something she had crafted with care. Her generous spirit and open heart made everyone feel loved, welcome, and safe.
Hennie was preceded in death by her husband, Ken, and her son-in-law, Patrick.
She is survived by:
• Daughter Helen, son-in-law Vince, grandson Clay, and granddaughter Marina with her husband Aaron
• Son Donald, daughter-in-law Maria, and granddaughter Sophia
• Daughter Tina
• And many nieces and nephews
Her legacy of love, kindness, and creativity lives on in all who knew her.
Funeral arrangements will be shared with family and friends.
