Ian G. C. Clements
March 19, 1926 - July 23, 2010
Ian passed away peacefully in Vancouver General Hospital, deeply regretted by his:
•Wife, Vera (nee Stevenson) and sons Michael of Vancouver and Stephen of Aliso Viejo, California
•Brothers, Brian and family of Sydney, Australia, and Ronnie and family of Belfast, Northern Ireland
•Brother-in-law Dereck Jeffers of Groveland, California
•Sister-in-Law Phyllis (sister of Vera) and husband William, and family, of Belfast, Northern Ireland
•Cousin Hugh Mackenzie, wife Helen, and family, of Powell River, BC, and
•Many other relatives in Ireland, England, Australia, Scotland, and his friends.
Ian was born in Dublin, Ireland and later moved with his parents back to Belfast.
He served with the British Merchant Marine as a 2nd Officer and for a period during the Second World War, and was a member of the Conway Club for many years.
After completing his education at Oxford University, he married Vera in 1956 and they moved to Vancouver in 1957. He worked for many years for the Health Labor Relations Association ("HLRA") until he retired.
Ian enjoyed life to the fullest, including sailing, skiing, bike riding, and hiking, and he was also an avid reader. He was a member of the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club since 1968 and spent many years sailing on "Karma".
In lieu of flowers, we request that a donation be made in Ian's memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, which would be greatly appreciated.
Cremation has taken place via arrangements made by Kearney Funeral Services of Vancouver. A private family service will be held at a later date, and an online guest book will be established via Kearney.
