James "Sandy" Dorn passed away on September 27, 2026, after a brief battle with the flu.
Sandy is survived by his loving wife, Carol Dorn, daughter Susan Hallinan and his son, Joshua Dorn. He was predeceased by his eldest son, Charles Wheat, in 2015.
Born and raised in Burnaby, B.C., Sandy had an adventurous, curious spirit. He travelled widely through Europe and the East, and spent time in India, his beloved country of mysticism, searching for his guru, only to discover that the guru had been the journey itself. His adventures also took him overland to Colombia.
For 27 years, Sandy worked at Chilliwack Community Services as a Family Support Worker and Nurturing Fathers Coordinator. Over that time, he touched the lives of many families in Chilliwack.
Sandy was a gifted artist and musician whose talents brought great joy to his family and friends. He was also a wonderful storyteller, and many friends were treated to his inspiring tales and quick, comic wit.
Carol and Sandy shared 57 years together. Their loving relationship was an example to everyone who knew them.
Sandy will be deeply missed by many. No service has been planned at this time.
