It is with hearts full of love, and aching with sorrow, that we announce the passing of Jane, beloved sister, step-mother, aunt, grandmother, great-aunt, friend and faithful servant of God, on June 24, 2026, at the age of 69. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and selfless generosity that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Jane was born in 1956 in a mining town (now a ghost town) called Mount Sheer, BC. She is the middle sister of seven, with three elder sisters and three younger sisters. The bond she shared with all of them was one of great strength and constancy within her life and theirs. They had a closeness many only dream of: a lifetime of laughter, support, and unwavering love for one another. She is the first of the seven to be called home, and the depth of this loss is felt by her sisters in a way words can scarcely capture.
In 1992, Jane married the love of her life, John Cvetkovic, and together they built a marriage of 26 years rooted in partnership, devotion, and shared faith. She happily became step-mother to Lauren and Jessica. John predeceased her in 2019, and while that loss was extremely difficult for her, it never dimmed her faith or her capacity to love and give. Jane lived her faith out loud — not through words alone, but through action, every single day. A devoted and strong Christian, she was an active member of prayer teams and belonged to cherished prayer groups and Bible study circles that nourished her spirit and connected her to a wide community of faith. She believed deeply in putting others before herself, and she lived that conviction fully: tutoring students who needed extra support, volunteering her time wherever it was needed, and showing up — quietly and consistently — for anyone who needed her.
She was also full of life and energy, embracing every day with enthusiasm. She could be found on the golf course, skiing on the mountain, out on her bike, at the gym or on the pickleball court, and she brought the same warmth and enthusiasm to these pursuits as she did to everything else. Jane had a rare gift for connection — she made everyone feel seen, valued, and loved. Her circle of friends was wide and deep, both here in BC and in Ontario where she moved in 1985 for 35 years and then returned to BC in 2020.
Jane is survived by her step-daughters, Lauren and Jessica; her elder sisters, Eileen, Shelagh and Rosemarie (Greg Weber); her younger sisters, Mary Lou (Paul Drescher), Patti (Paul Korzilius) and Pam; grandchildren, Christian and Eliana; 13 nieces & nephews, 11 great-nieces & nephews; and a wide community of friends, fellow congregants, and prayer partners whose lives she touched immeasurably.
Jane leaves behind a legacy not measured in achievements, but in the countless lives she quietly and faithfully made better. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her husband and at peace in the arms of the Lord she served so faithfully throughout her life. She lived not for herself, but for others — and in so doing, she left this world immeasurably better than she found it. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Greater Vancouver Foodbank, a cause that was close to Jane’s heart. A funeral service and reception to follow will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at Kearney Funeral Services, 219 Sixth Street, New Westminster.
