Janet Brooks

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Janet Brooks on August 5, 2026, in Vancouver, British Columbia, at the age of 67. Janet was born on September 28, 1958, in New Westminster. She grew up in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, where she attended Webster’s Corner Elementary School and then Garibaldi Secondary. In her early years, Janet worked as a caregiver and nurse’s aide in Surrey before settling in Vancouver.

Janet was a kind and caring sister, daughter, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She gave the most beautiful cards with very touching and loving words that we will cherish. Even at times when she could not afford things, she would send her grandchildren birthday gifts and would share with others in her community. She often helped her neighbours with groceries and craft supplies and by accompanying them to medical appointments.

Janet was a very talented and artistic person, patiently creating beautiful stained-glass creations for friends and family. Over the years, Janet has made very beautiful cross-stitch pictures for her family and friends. Some took Janet months and years to complete and were professionally framed - we will cherish these for years to come.

Janet also was a collector of beautiful gems and rocks, and she loved to give them to loved ones, along with blown glass ornaments of many colours.

Janet will be greatly missed by her mother, Beatrice, her siblings, Shannon, Bill and Brenda, her daughters, Kristi and Kari, her grandchildren, Ania and Marek, her nieces and nephews and her friends and neighbours.
