Jordan (JC) Schneider

March 8, 1967 — April 10, 2025

Vancouver

It is with deep sorrow and immense love that we announce that Jordan Schneider, known to many as JC, passed away on April 10, 2025. Jordan bravely faced his cancer diagnosis for over 18 months, making the most of every moment. Despite the pain he was in during his last few weeks of life, he was still going out on his boat, buying new things, mustering the strength to cook delicious food, and looking forward to new experiences and travel. He managed to stay fiercely independent and stoic until the end.

Born on March 8, 1967 in San Francisco, California, Jordan had just turned 58 this year. In this short time, he became a man of many talents, and reinvented himself multiple times. He began his career in biochemistry and microbiology, furthering research in the health sciences. Later he went on to become a helicopter mechanic with the US Army, an outdoor adventure guide, and finally a clinical pharmacist in the hospital. He was extremely intelligent, meticulous, and held himself to a standard higher than most, both in terms of expertise and personal integrity. This was evident in the daring climbs he achieved that left zero room for error, the mentorship he was able to provide as a pharmacist, the trust of his friends and colleagues, and the acute perspectives he had on politics and society. Jordan was also generous. Gifts – sometimes surprise – were his love language, and while he had cancer, he signed up with BC Cancer as a volunteer driver to help others going through their treatments. He had a subtle, yet dry and silly sense of humour and loved to read, often escaping for hours or days into science fiction or seafaring novels. He had a deep appreciation for nature and made an effort to get to know her by hiking, skiing, mushroom hunting, seeking out the largest tides in BC, and going grizzly bear, eagle, and bird watching. He tried looking for beavers around Vancouver too, but never did find one.

Jordan wasn’t quite done at 58, but his legacy lives on in the impact he had on our lives, the love and values he shared with the world, and the spirit of adventure in all of us. Jordan is survived by his parents, Mollie Rights and Tom Schneider, and his stepdad Jerry George. He also leaves behind his two cats – Sigyn and Loki. A private memorial and celebration of his life will be held for him at a later date.
