It is with sorrow we announce the passing of Joseph "Joe" Trainor, beloved father, brother, and son, who peacefully left us on December 22, 2024, at the George Derby Care Home in Burnaby, British Columbia. Joe had lived there for the past seven years following a stroke and was 77 years old at the time of his passing.
Born on September 29, 1947, in Port Kirwan, Newfoundland, Joe made his way to Vancouver in the 1970s. A man of varied interests and passions, Joe had an enduring love for movies, becoming known for his impressive collection of DVDs. His enthusiasm for film was matched only by his love for wrestling, a bond he shared with his son, Stephen. Together, they enjoyed countless hours at both professional wrestling shows, reveling in the excitement and camaraderie of live events. These special moments formed an unbreakable connection between father and son.
Joe was the youngest son of Mary Trainor (Morris) and Albert Trainor and the cherished brother of Denis Trainor (Anne), who predeceased him. Above all, Joe was a devoted father to Stephen Trainor, and his love for his son was immeasurable.
Though Joe faced many personal struggles throughout his life, those who knew him well remember him as a kind, gentle, and compassionate soul. His generosity, humility, and quiet strength were felt by all who crossed his path. He never missed sending Christmas cards back home each year — small gestures that spoke volumes about his enduring love, even across distances and through the years.
May he now rest in peace, free from pain, and surrounded by the love he so freely gave.
A service to honor Joe's life will be held on Monday, February 3, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Kearney Funeral Home, 219 6th Street, New Westminster, BC. All are welcome to attend and celebrate his life and legacy.
