Juan Pilor aged 81 passed away on February 27, 2026 at 11:30pm.
Born on December 27,1944 in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. He’s the third of six Pilor siblings: Letty, Mori, Juan, Cedie, Elpo, Lulu and Tia.
Juan (a.k.a. “Johnny”) immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada in 1978 to join his wife Thelma. They then moved to Surrey, BC with their son Kevin in July 2006.
Johnny worked as postal clerk for Canada Post from Winnipeg to Vancouver until his retirement in 2013 when he was 69.
A quiet, soft spoken man, Johnny shared knowledge on most of everything when engaged in conversation, from religion, politics, current events, sports, local & international celebrities - except internet & Facebook.
Johnny could sing too! An asset that’s required for a priest which he almost had taken for a lifetime career. A few years into priesthood, he came home for a break from the seminary. His introduction by a mutual friend to his future wife Thelma who resides in Canada, made him never to return to the seminary. He did not become “Father Johnny” but ended up becoming a loving and caring father to their only child Kevin. Johnny’s love for his ‘special’ son made him learn the sign language and volunteer as coach for the Special Olympics in Langley, BC.
A devout Catholic, Johnny actively participated in Parish activities. Johnny loved going places. He enjoyed trips with his family to Rome, Toronto, Disney in LA, Calgary, Mexico and was looking forward for more trips like Jamaica and a cruise to the Caribbean.
Johnny was a good man. He lived his life with flying colours.
St. Peter will open wide the gates of Heaven for him. Have a safe and peaceful trip to Heaven. You can rest in peace..
A message from his wife Thelma:
Until We Meet Again
We think about you always,
We talk about you still,
You have never been forgotten,
And you never will,
We hold you close within our hearts,
And there you will remain,
To walk and guide us through our lives,
Until we meet again
