Laura Alcantara Robinson

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Laura Alcantara Robinson who passed away surrounded by her loved ones on September 2, 2025. Laura was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She fought a lifelong and courageous battle against cancer and we take comfort in knowing that she is now resting in peace. Laura is survived by her husband David, her son Travis, his wife Hiruni and her grandson August. 

Born in February 1959 in the Cavite Province of the Philippines, Laura bravely emigrated to Canada at the age of 19. She worked hard and raised her son as a single mom for many years. She married her beloved husband David in 2011 and they spent many years traveling the world together before retiring on Vancouver Island.

Laura’s passions in life lie in her commitment to her adoring family, her camaraderie with her dear friends, and to her devotion for volunteer work specifically with the BC Cancer Foundation and the Volunteer Cancer Drivers Society. Her friends and family knew her as someone that could always be relied on. She was generous and kind, choosing to see the best in everyone and always willing to lend a helping hand. 

She loved cooking and baking and was always sharing her delicious creations with everyone around her. She found a love for painting late in life and was incredibly talented, receiving first place ribbons in two consecutive years at local competitions. A lover of live music and going to concerts, her home was always filled with the sounds of her most cherished musicians and bands. She also enjoyed and excelled at playing poker, taking part in a standing weekly game with her friends. In her retirement she became a nature lover, taking part in camping, fishing and whale watching.

She will be remembered for her love, affection and generosity. Her legacy will live on through all the countless lives she has touched.We would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and friends who supported and helped make her life more comfortable during her final months.

Her memorial will take place at Kearney's Funeral Home on Wednesday September 10, 2025 at 12pm.
