Leif Eric Paulson
October 8, 2026
It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Leif Eric Pauslon in a car accident on October 8, 2026.
Leif was born in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada, on December 9, 1987, to Paul Gary Paulson and Kathleen Anne Stanyer.
Leif was named after the Viking, Leif Erikson and truly had the heart of an explorer. He spent the time he had with us living such a big and full life, traveling all over the world, and the communities he was part of and the friendships he made meant so much to him. He played lacrosse in his hometown of Prince George before moving on to the New Westminster Salmon Bellies and then to play for the Cornell Big Red, where he competed in two Division One National Championship playoffs, placing fourth in 2007 and second in 2009. Later he captained the Swedish national team in the World Lacrosse Championships in Israel.
His engineering work and studies took him everywhere. After receiving a Master of Engineering at L’Ecole des mines d’Albi-Carmaux in France, he worked on palm oil powered cars in Malaysia. He was a professional engineer, working five years in Vancouver and internationally for Knight Piesold, then started his own engineering company working in mining and construction.
Leif spoke three languages fluently and was also a talented pianist, finishing Grade 8 Piano with the Royal Toronto Conservatory of Music. He loved fishing, camping, hiking, biking, and cooking!
His thoughtfulness and humour put everyone around him at ease. Family and friends were very important to him and the younger kids always looked up to him. He took that very seriously and was generous with his time. He loved being an uncle and was looking forward to being a great uncle. Words cannot express how much he will be missed.
Leif is survived by his parents, siblings Marja-Lisa, Dylan, and Fyfe; nieces Olivia, Rylee and Julia, nephew Jefferson and many good friends.
