Linda Ann Gauthier (nee Lindsey)

Linda passed away peacefully at the age of 84 with her oldest son, D’Arcy, by her side.

Born in La Tuque, QC, her parents (Paul and Norma) divorced while she was very young, and she soon found herself living in Victoria, BC, with her mother and her grandmother (Dorothy Parsons).

 As a teenager, Linda spent her time as a member of Job’s Daughters, became a Yo-Yo Champion, loved to play baseball, and spent time at the beach with her friends. Growing up, she always wanted to follow in her father’s footsteps and join the military. In 1960, Linda graduated with Honours from her basic trade qualification course and was posted to CFS St Margaret’s (a detachment of CFB Chatham) in New Brunswick. 

In 1961, she met and fell in love with a guy named Roch (Rocky) Gauthier, and the following year, on Nov 3, 1962, they married. Over the course of her life, she was a caregiver to her mother, who died in 1970, the Girl Guide Commissioner for the NWT (early 70s), and raised three boys while her husband devoted his life to the military. 

She loved to camp at Cultus Lake, loved Golf, Curling, and Darts, she was a baseball pitcher, loved to travel, a Red Hatter, and most of all, she loved her friendships. Linda didn’t let much stop her, she lived life to the fullest, she had a beautiful community of friends that she loved, and they all loved her back. She will be missed by so many people. 

She is predeceased by her husband, Roch (2019), and her youngest son, Lindsey (2016). She survived by her brother Clifford (Elizabeth), two sons, D’Arcy (Scott), Stacey (Margaret), her nine grand-children Joel, Brent, Sara, Nik, Hunter, Jordan, Ryan, Samantha, and James. Her great-grandchildren, Chloe, Dax, Evie, Jade, Jewel, Loki, Mike, Asher, Eliana, Cohen, and Haylen.

She will be greatly missed by everyone.
