Lucienne Rosalie Schultz

April 10, 1950 — January 17, 2026

Vancouver

Lucienne Rosalie Schultz was a woman of remarkable warmth, curiosity, and joy, whose love for life, people, and the world around her knew no bounds. Born on April 10, 1950, to Wilma and Joseph Dumont, Lucienne grew up between Tahsis—a small, remote logging town—and Vancouver. These early experiences helped shape her independence, resilience, and open-hearted approach to life. She was a beloved sister to Rita, Gloria, and was predeceased by her brother, Raymond.

Lucienne was extremely outgoing and possessed a rare gift for making friends wherever she went. Whether meeting someone for the first time on a plane, during her travels, or over a game of bridge, she connected effortlessly with others. Her friendships meant the world to her, and she nurtured them with loyalty, laughter, and genuine care. Her life was rich with meaningful relationships, and she was deeply loved by many.

From a young age, Lucienne had an insatiable passion for travel. At just 16 years old, she set off on a bold adventure, sailing by boat to London, England, where she lived for a year. This early leap into the wider world defined her life. After returning to Vancouver to complete Grade 12 and graduate high school, she continued to embrace new experiences with enthusiasm and fearlessness.

A few years later, Lucienne met her first husband, Jack Smiley. The early years of their marriage were spent in Toronto before they settled back in Vancouver, the city that would remain her home for the rest of her life. Together, they raised two daughters, Danielle and Jacqueline, who were the pride and joy of her life and in her true selfless nature always put them first. She was also a loving mother-in-law to Danielle’s partner, Paul, and Jacqueline’s husband, Darren. Nothing brought her greater happiness than her cherished grandchildren—Kaitlyn, Emma, and Alison—who filled her heart with immeasurable love and joy.

Lucienne’s passion for travel found its perfect expression in her 37-year career as a flight attendant with Air Canada. The job allowed her to fulfill her lifelong dream of seeing the world while forming lasting friendships along the way. Wherever she traveled, she embraced new cultures, shared stories, and left behind smiles. For Lucienne, travel was not just about destinations—it was about people, connection, learning and living life fully.

In 2014, Lucienne married Martin Schultz. After Martin’s passing, she was fortunate to have found Seann, a meaningful and steady presence in the last five years of her life. Seann was quickly swept up in Lucienne’s travel adventures traveling to 40 countries together. They enjoyed an active social life, including their shared love of bridge. During the final three and a half years of Lucienne’s courageous battle with leukemia, Seann cared for her with extraordinary devotion, compassion, and love.

Lucienne will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her kindness, her outgoing nature, and her deep appreciation for the friendships that enriched her life. She lived with a love for learning, independence, and grace, leaving behind memories that span continents and generations. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, her many friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
