Margaret Kelly

October 28, 1935 — January 10, 2026

KELLY, Margaret Josephine passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, at the age of 90 at the Delta View Good Samaritan Care Facility in Delta, BC.

Margaret was the eldest of seven children born to Bridget and Bernard Fennell on October 28, 1935. She grew up in London, she was shy, but a good student and well liked by everyone. She excelled at Secretarial Arts and went straight from school to a series of good jobs. During her late teens she met Bill, who had left Ireland to find work in England. They married in London on March 26, 1955 and after a couple of false starts moving between England and Canada, they finally settled for good, emigrating to Calgary in 1967.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband William (Bill), in January 2013, her son, Andrew Kelly in December 2002 and her granddaughter, Charity Tait in September 2022. She is survived by and will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Anne Marie Patmore (Rick), her sons, Liam Kelly and Anthony Kelly; grandchildren Briana Nielsen (Steven), Sean Kelly (Angela), Ryan Patmore, Matthew Kelly (Courtney), Lisa McAlpin (Kevin), Brandon Kelly (Allyson) Hayley Vernillo (Gianluca), Cassidy Easley (Tomy), along with 22 Great grandchildren; Greyson, Christian, Kasha, Austin, Emma, Harlow, Olivia, Bella, Isla, Kingston, Eve, Declan, Bodhi, Miller, Noah, Ellie, Heidi, Nolan, Melody, Zyla, Banks and Ava.

Bill and Margaret were happily married for 58 years and enjoyed a wonderful life together, rich in friends, good health, and a loving family. They travelled extensively, but their favorite place was Hawaii, where they spent many a holiday at their condo in Maui. Between raising four children, working full time and starting their own company, Margaret still found time to be actively involved with the Rotary Tennis Club for many years, which her and Bill enjoyed immensely. She also loved camping and was happiest when convening with nature. Margaret and Bill worked side by side for many years until she retired in 1995. Besides her involvement with Life Foundation, Margaret remained very active, pursuing her passion for painting, gardening, playing the piano, bridge, and socializing with her many friends. She loved cards, crosswords, knitting and Soduko.

Margaret was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, who will be sadly missed by the many, people she touched throughout her life and will be fondly remembered for her kindness and warmth. Her Catholic faith was of paramount importance to Margaret. When she retired in1995 she joined Life Foundation, who’s mission was to spread the message of Divine Mercy throughout the world. This group travelled with images of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Jesus the Divine Mercy and a replica of the Holy Shroud of Turin. These missions took her across Canada, throughout the United States to Africa and Rome.
