It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Marguerite Bens, who passed away peacefully at her home in Abbotsford, British Columbia, on May 27, 2026, surrounded by family after a courageous journey with esophageal cancer. She was 80 years old.
Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Marguerite lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gordon Bens.
Marguerite leaves behind her loving son, Larry (Sunny); her grandson, Brian (Kelsey); her granddaughters, Lauren and Amanda; her brothers, Jack (Donna) and Richard (Charlene); her sisters, Pauline and Carol (Curt); and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
She worked at Hastings Park, where she met Gordon, later at Cloverdale horse racing, and spent many years with Icon Beauty Supplies before retiring at age 65.
A devoted Catholic, Marguerite volunteered with the Catholic Women’s League and dedicated much of her retirement to serving seniors in the Fraser Valley. Helping others was simply part of who she was.
She enjoyed sewing, baking, cruising, motorcycling, and spending time with family and friends. A pilgrimage to Italy and Croatia was among her most treasured experiences.
Marguerite was known for her kindness, compassion, and genuine care for others. She valued personal connection and was always ready with a phone call, a prayer, or words of encouragement.
Marguerite’s Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, 33333 Mayfair Avenue, Abbotsford, B.C. on Friday, June 19, 2026 at 11:00am.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.
