Maria Alicia Cea de Henriquez

June 8, 1957 — April 15, 2025

With deep sorrow and immense love, the family of María Alicia Cea de Henríquez announces her peaceful passing on April 15, 2025, after a courageous five-year battle with cancer. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Born in El Salvador, María Alicia was part of a lineage of strong, resilient women. She was one of the few women in her agronomic engineering program, inspired by her love of nature and animals. During the Salvadoran Civil War, she and her husband, Mario, made the brave decision to immigrate to Canada, seeking safety and opportunity for their children—leaving behind all they had built. Her Catholic faith was central to her life. A devoted follower of the Virgin Mary, she was a woman of unwavering prayer and quiet strength. In her final years, she gifted her family with time—time to reflect, love, and create lasting memories.

She is survived by her husband, Mario; her brother, Rogelio (Tamara); and her children: Alicia (Jamie), Andrea, Mario, and Verónica; as well as her cherished granddaughters.

Her legacy lives on in the values she instilled and the love she shared.

Evening Prayers will be held on April 29, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at St. Matthew’s Parish in Surrey. The Funeral Mass will take place on April 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., also at St. Matthew’s Parish.

“Well done, good and faithful servant… Come and share your master’s happiness.” – Matthew 25:23

– Mateo 25:23
