Maria Fronzo

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Maria Fronzo. Maria Fronzo (née Abbinante), passed away peacefully at the age of 85, surrounded with her loving family by her side.

Maria was the beloved wife of the late Vito and mother to the late Mike, her parents, Carmine and Rosa, brothers Vincenzo and Domenico, and sisters Rosetta and Cesaria.

She leaves behind her sons, Carmine (Sylvia), Joey (Lil). Adored Nonna of Christopher (Chelsey), Steven, Vito, Gian Carlo, Lily. Beloved sisters and brothers and a treasured La Z, along with her many friends.

Born in Carbonara di Bari, Italy, immigrated to Canada in 1956 with her mother and 6 sisters.

Maria worked for 35 years at the Vancouver School Board. Her work ethic was impressive, and she willingly sacrificed her own self to create opportunities for her children. Her memory will live on in our hearts forever.

She will be remembered for the love she gave her family, the special place she held in the hearts of her grandchildren, her siblings, her many nieces and nephews, and the many friends she touched throughout her life. Maria was a loving Mamma, Nonna, Sister, and a La Z.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Church, 1450 Delta Avenue, Burnaby, BC, followed by entombment at the Grand Mausoleum at Ocean View Burial Park, 4000 Imperial St., Burnaby, BC.

In lieu of flowers, donations made in Maria’s memory to the BC Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
