Maria Trybek

Maria Trybek (nee Bala) was born July 2, 1941, in Wystepy, Poland, and passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026, surrounded by her family in Burnaby, Canada.

Maria married Florian in Poland in 1960 and came to Canada the following year, beginning a new life with faith, courage, and quiet determination. Canada became her new home, however Maria’s many fond memories of Wystepy, family, and the Polish countryside always remained close to her heart. After Dad’s passing in 1982, Mom continued her selfless devotion to her children. She worked at Our Lady of Mercy parish for many years where her presence reflected the same care and humility that guided her life at home and in the community.

Maria will be remembered for her kindness, hospitality, and friendly demeanour towards everyone she met. The door was always open at our house, Maria always made time for a chat and a cup of tea. Maria was a loving mother to us, her four children, and their spouses; Andrew, Patricia (Jan), Elizabeth (Tony), and Daniel.

Maria was a cherished grandmother (Babcia) to Philip, Melissa, Cashia, Marcus, Jonathan, and Sarah. Babcia’s grandchildren were a source of great pride and joy.

Maria was a strong woman who overcame many challenges, she carried her role as wife, mother, and Babcia with grace and dignity. A devoted Catholic and member of the CWL, Maria lived her faith in a steady and sincere way. May God grant her eternal rest and may perpetual light shine upon her. Mom & Babcia, you will live forever in our hearts, and your memory will remain a blessing to all who knew and loved you.

Prayers will be held on Thursday, August 20th at 7:00pm, Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 21 at 11:00am at Our Lady of Mercy Church and burial at Pacific Heritage Cemetery in Burnaby at 2:30pm (PST).
