It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mario Adriano Nonni on December 23, 2025, at the age of 96. He departed peacefully among loving family. He was the beloved husband of Gina Nonni (nee Rosa) for 66 years and cherished father to his sons Danny and David.
Mario was born to Guglielmo and Pia Nonni on January 18, 1929, in Castiglione di Ravenna, Italy. He immigrated to Canada seeking opportunity and a brighter future. Settling in Vancouver, he met the love of his life, Gina, and they were married on April 11, 1959. Together they raised two sons. Always the voice of reason in the family he carried a positive attitude and set an example of hard work, honesty, and kindness.
Born on a farm, Mario had a deep connection to the earth and took great joy in tending a large backyard garden. Spring and summer brought an explotion of vegetables and flowers, the tomatoes were particularly wonderful. Family meals were one of his great pleasures, and as a master at the grill, summer barbecues were extra special. He was also a keen soccer fan, enjoying games from both the Canadian and Italian leagues and especially the Italian national team. "Forza Azzurri!" Throughout his life, what defined him most, was dedication to his family.
Mario is survived by his loving wife Gina, and his sons Danny and David. He is also survived by his brother Ido and nieces, nephews, and friends in Canada and Italy.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Pino, and his sister Giuseppina.
His spirit touched and lives on in everyone who knew him.
Rest in peace, Mario.
