Mario Turco

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mario Turco.

Born in Casole Bruzio (Cosenza), Italy, he was one of 4 children born to Fiore and Virginia Turco. He immigrated to Canada in 1964 and worked as a restaurateur and restaurant owner before retiring in 2003. Mario took pride in his family and grandchildren. Mario’s hobbies were gardening, mushroom foraging, and enjoying his wine.

He is survived by his loving wife Elida, his children Virginia (Thomas), Stanley (Rina), and his grandchildren Fiona and Lorenzo; sister Rosetta, sister Caterina (Rosalbino), late brother Ernesto (Antonietta), and many nieces and nephews.

Mario will always be remembered for enjoying and excelling in socializing. If there was one thing Mario loved most of all, it was being a Nonno. His grandchildren brought him so much pride and joy. They would always bring a smile to his face.

Viewing will be held at Kearney Burnaby Chapel 4715 Hastings Street, Burnaby, BC on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church 2025 Napier Street, Vancouver, BC on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 11:00am. Entombment to follow at Ocean View Burial Park Grand Mausoleum. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation.
