Martino Demichina

With heavy hearts, and immense love, the family of Martino Demichina, announces his passing on April 23 2025, after a courageous 9-year battle with his health from a debilitating stroke in 2016.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Domenica (née Stramaglia); his sons Frank (Laura), Marty (Karlin), his granddaughters, Graysen and Giorgia, and his brothers, Domenic (Enza, predeceased), Steve, and Tony (Lena, predeceased). As well as many other relatives and friends. He is predeceased by his eldest sister Vittoria (Domenic, predeceased), and youngest sister, Rosa.

Martino was born on St. Valentines day 1943 in the small town of Loseto, (BARI) Italy.  He immigrated with his mother (and siblings) to Lucerne, BC in 1955 to join his father to start a new life in Canada. In 1959, he settled in Burnaby.  Martino was a hard-working, honest family man, with a heart of gold and a wonderful sense of humour.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday May 7 2025 at St. Michael’s Parish, 9387 Holmes Street, Burnaby. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted for the Heart and stroke foundation https://app-hsfdonation.heartandstroke.ca/

Martino’s family would like to extend a special gesture of thanks to the staff at Queens Park Care Center New Westminster BC, for all of the kindness, compassion, and care during these years.
