Mary Rose Munro passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026, at Surrey Memorial Hospital at the age of 91. She is survived by her 3 sons: Peter Munro (wife Amanda), Colin Munro (wife Denise) and Iain Munro (wife Jackie) and 7 grandchildren.
Mary was born on March 26, 1935, in Alma, Quebec where she lived until she moved to Toronto in her early 20’s and went to work for McLean Hunter Magazine. Soon after she met and married her husband, John. They moved from Toronto to The Pas Manitoba, where their son Peter was born, and decided to move to Vancouver after only 1 year up North due to the harsh conditions. The family moved to Burnaby where Colin was born and then to Coquitlam where Iain was born and finally to White Rock where she resided up until her passing.
Mary & John built a family in Vancouver, and later on would start a family communications business which is still in operation.
She loved travelling with John, and they went all over Europe including Croatia where her relatives lived. Mary was also an avid gardener and played badminton at Queens Park with John for many years. Her passion was her cooking, and she made the best pies.
Mary was a very loved and beautiful mother. We cherish the time we had with her and she will be missed.
No funeral service will be held, but the family will have a private celebration of life in the near future.
