Mary Patricia Steenhuus

In loving memory of Mary Patricia Steenhuus (nee Chatwin), who left this mortal coil September 17, 2025, passing peacefully in her sleep. She was 89 years old.

Eldest daughter of John Charles Chatwin and Margaret “Peggy” Loretto Chatwin (nee Moran) Sister of Clare and Ethna.

She is survived by her two sons Thomas and Michael and Grandson Elias.

Born in Oldbury, England and growing up as a “war” baby, “Pat” learned early to be a fighter and a survivor, skills that served her well through the ups and downs of her life. When things looked bad she would always pull it together and bring us through, which was hard as a single Mother with little support. Her career was spent as a teacher in the elementary school systems of both England and Canada, which she moved to in 1960, and became a citizen of in 1996.

A loving and devoted Mother and Grandmother, Pat always put others before her and was always there to offer help and support if ever there was need. A lover of animals and children, their innocence and curiosity was reflected in Pat’s way of looking at the world and in her gentle, understanding personality.

She was our Hero and will be missed and loved eternally.
