Maurice Mourton

February 21, 1939 — June 8, 2025

VANCOUVER

It is with inexpressible sadness that we share that Maurice passed away on June 8, 2025, at the age of 86.

He is survived by his loving wife Anne, his daughter Michelle (husband Darren) and granddaughter Sienna, whom he adored. His brother Ken and his family reside in the UK.

Maurice had a love of travel, which took both him and Anne around the world. You could find him with a good book on the beaches of Alvor or Bucerias, or by the pool in Palm Desert. In later years, when Anne could no longer travel, he devoted himself to her care.

He will be remembered for the many deep conversations he had with family and friends. Often sharing stories and advice. He had a gift for listening and engaging with people.

Maurice was born in London, England, and after marrying Anne, they emigrated to Canada in 1962. In Canada, they created lasting friendships as Maurice’s role as an executive with the Bank of Montreal took them across the country. He joined HSBC Group in 1986 and held a variety of senior executive positions, retiring in 2000 from HSBC Group as Executive Director, Brazil.

Always active in the community, he chaired and served on multiple boards, including: Children's Miracle Network Telethon, BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, The Arthritis Society of B.C., The Canadian International Dragon Boat Festival, The Vancouver Foundation, The College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC, The B.C. Transplant Society. The Child and Family Research Institute, and The B.C. Financial Services Tribunal.

He will be remembered most for being a loving husband to Anne for 64 years. A dad who always cheered on his daughter Michelle and her family, always encouraging and supporting them with his love. He adored his granddaughter and never missed a chance to hear her sing.

He will be deeply missed by his friends and family in both Canada and the UK.
