After a courageous fight, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael James Shepherd on July 5, 2025. Michael (Mike) will be forever missed by his loving wife Regan and two daughters Victoria and Addison. Also left to cherish Mike's memory are his loving parents Jim and Joanne, sister Jill (husband Chris), brother Daniel (wife Jenna). Mike was predeceased by his sister Leah. He was also a fun and beloved uncle to his nieces and nephew and cherished by his extended family, close friends and coworkers.
Michael achieved his Chemical Engineering Degree at the University of Saskatchewan which is also the place he met his wife Regan which marked the start of their loving partnership and adventures of 25 years. Mike was a successful and impactful leader who spent the majority of his career as plant manager of chemical plants in both Canada and the US. He was an exceptional mentor to many and was known as someone who could bring resolution to the toughest of problems, fostering love and respect by all that knew and worked with him.
Mike was happiest coaching his daughters’ sports teams or cheering them on from the sidelines. He rarely missed a game and was their number one fan. He also loved planning excursions which they did together as a family whenever they were not occupied with sports. This included frequent road trips to Tahoe, camping on Vancouver Island, regular ski trips to the Sierra Mountains in Reno, tropical trips he planned that were packed with adventure and more. Together they made the most of all the wonderful places they lived and made many special friendships.
Mike would do anything for his family and lived an amazing and meaningful life. He was generous with his time and his kindness was apparent to all that knew him. He will be missed in those critical moments when we need sound advice. We already long to hear more of Mike's stories, the best stories, guaranteed to get us all laughing. He will forever live on through his wife, daughters and family and in the abundance of memories he created with so many. He will always be cherished and honored for the strong, loving, intelligent and fun man that he was.
Rest in peace Mike, you could not have been a better husband, father, son, brother or friend. We are all so thankful to have had the privilege of having you be a part of our lives.
If you wish, please consider making a donation in Mike's name to the B.C. Cancer Foundation.
