Michael Patrick Lawler, born in Kilkenny, Ireland, lived a life defined by adventure, love, and community. As a young man, he served as an officer with Irish Shipping, traveling the world by sea. On one of those journeys, sailing into Burrard Inlet, he resolved that one day Vancouver would become his home.
It was in Vancouver that Michael met the love of his life, Nellie. Together, they built a business, a home, and a family, welcoming their cherished daughter, Sarah. The bond between father and daughter was one of joy, pride, and deep mutual affection.
An avid outdoorsman, Michael embraced the beauty of British Columbia. He especially loved skiing and remained a regular on the slopes of Whistler well into his 80s. He also carried his passion for sport onto the rugby field, playing with heart and camaraderie as a proud member of the Capilano Rugby Club.
Michael was the youngest son of Edward and Mary (Margaret). He was predeceased by his parents, his siblings Robert, Eithen (Rob), Filomena, Dolores (Johnny), and Ann, as well as by his beloved daughter, Sarah. He is lovingly remembered by his grandsons, Benjamin and James, his son-in-law, Patrick, and his many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Mike will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, quick wit, and unwavering devotion to family and friends. His warmth and presence touched many lives, and his legacy will continue through those who knew and loved him.
The family would like to thank the care team at Sunrise Lynn Valley for providing exceptional care in Mike's final years.
