Michel Jabbour, age 67, was a deeply devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He passed away on May 10, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in El Kobayat, Lebanon, Michel was the son of the late Nakhley and Victoria Jabbour. He was predeceased by his siblings Jean, Khaze, Josephine, and Joseph Jabbour. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Hanan Jabbour; his children Micheline, Nesrine, Nermine, and Georges; his cherished grandchildren Leila, Liam, Marcus, and Ethan; and his sister Mouna Jabbour.
Michel lived a life marked by resilience, faith, and unconditional love for his family. At the age of 15, he enrolled in the Lebanese Army, where he proudly served his country—including a time under the president’s command. While visiting his uncle in Shekka, he met the love of his life, Hanan. The two married just three months later in 1977 and began building their life together.
In 1978, Michel left the army and moved to Liberia, where he worked in manufacturing alongside his sister and brother-in-law. In 1991, seeking a better future for his family, he traveled to the United States to join his sister Mouna before settling in Vancouver, Canada, in 1992. He successfully reunited the family in 1996 when he brought his wife and children to Canada.
Despite the many challenges he faced—including starting from scratch in a new country, working tirelessly in construction to support a family of six, and enduring the loss of his siblings back home—Michel remained steadfast in his faith and guided by his unwavering love for his family.
To his children, Michel was a pillar of strength and wisdom. He instilled in them the values of hard work, humility, and perseverance. To his grandchildren, he was a gentle, kind-hearted presence—always ready with a warm smile, a story from the past, or a helping hand. His legacy lives on in their hearts and in the lives, he shaped through quiet acts of love and sacrifice.
Michel will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on through the strong, united family he built and the values he embodied
When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight. — Khalil Gibran, The Prophet
