Patricia Dedinsky

Our Mom, Patricia Dedinsky-McCabe, (nee Kinnarny), died peacefully on August 4th, 2025, at the age of 92, due to complications of her Congestive Heart Failure. Predeceased by her son Mark Dedinsky, husbands Thomas Dedinsky and Matthew McCabe, brothers Allen and Bill Kinnarny, and sisters Marie Loftus, Gertrude Littlewood, Baby Josephine Kinnarny, Jenny Welsh and Kathleen Gleeson-Lyall. She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Marian Bush, Eve and Brad Wittal, Grace and Duane Rutherford and five grandchildren; Darline Bush and her son Miller, Rachel and Thomas Dedinsky, Lauren and her husband Curtis Chou and Brett Wittal. As well as the Loftus, Gleeson, Littlewood, Welsh, Kinnarny, Dedinsky and McCabe families. Pat was the youngest of eight children of William and Josephine Kinnarny. She was raised in South Vancouver and lived in the same area most of her life, graduating from St. Patrick’s School. She was always a happy person and enjoyed life to the fullest.

In addition to a distinguished career working in the Federal Government Offices, Pat was passionate about everything she did. Pat found enjoyment in singing, art, decorating, her church, crafts, travelling and entertaining. Pat loved working with the Diabetic Society, the Brain Tumour Support Group, the Aphasia/Stroke Group in addition to travelling, gardening and her roses. But what she loved the most, and her biggest legacy she leaves us, is her family. She was always so proud of us. Mom asked us to print this poem for her.

For Mom

What would we give if we could say,

We’re going to see our Mother today.

To see her face, to see her smile,

To sit and talk with her awhile.

To be together in the same old way,

Would be the dearest wish in our hearts today.

What we have lost and God has gained,

The best loved mother this world contained.

Dear God, take a message to Mom above,

Tell her we miss her and give her our love.

Viewing will be Wednesday, August 27th, 2025 at 9:45 am at Corpus Christi Parish 6350 Nanaimo St. Vancouver, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am by Fr. Bruce-John Hamilton, celebrant. Fr Ron Thompson, Fr Lucio Choi, and Fr Patrick Tepoorten will Concelebrate her Mass. Interment to follow at 1:00 pm at St Peter’s Cemetery 150 Richmond St, New Westminster.
