Pearl passed away August 31 at the age of 43 after a nine month battle with cancer.  She was born May 19th, 1967 in Toronto.  An only child, she is survived by her mother Laura, husband of 16 years Glenn, and her two sons Thelonious, age 7 and Django, age 4.
Coming to the lower mainland at an early age she grew up in the Crescent Beach area when it was still mostly farm land.  Some of her fondest memories were playing on the beach with her father Oscar.  She was a teenager when her family moved into Vancouver and at the age of 19 she met Glenn who was to become her husband and partner in life just seven years later.  She and Glenn have been living with their two sons in the Mountain View area of Vancouver.
Pearl was a student of art at Emily Carr and took up a career in graphic arts.  Most of her contribution in that field was working with Telus and its former BC tel. Her creative expression was never short of passionate no matter what she did.  She was well known for her cooking and incredible knack to create remarkable flavours that only she could deliver.  As such her presence in social interaction was always flavoured with her unique colourful character whether talking about mundane life experience or engaged in philosophical discussion.  In particular her love of music and dancing always inspired everyone to just let it all hang out and be free.
Her love was always felt as she made sure everyone was included and taken care of.  Her open nurturing way of being welcomed every new comer and embraced her family and friends. Pearl held incredibly precious a close circle of friends whom she loved and appreciated deeply and who in return loved her and held her in extreme high regard.  However, the forefront role for Pearl was being mother.  She adored her two boys and always prioritized her life around them.  Her concern and love for their well being shaped her every decision and day.
The most sacred space for Pearl was her own miniature farm in the side yard where despite her passion for food and growing it herself, she found deep solace and connection.  Then preferably with kids and husband by her side the next place she seemed to find the most joy and connection was at the beach.  With every possible opportunity she would whole up the family including Paco the dog and head off back to Crescent Beach or to Spanish Banks in Vancouver where play and interaction with the surf breeze and sand brought her rejuvenation and peace.
Very deep in her beliefs she was structured in spirit and devout in her Christianity.   It was important to her to live with her family in appreciation and love for God.
Pearl will be greatly missed by us all and her memory will inspire many of us to live life loud.
