Peter Frank Till

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Till on August 12, 2025 at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

Peter was born May 24, 1935 in Ernsthausen, Yugoslavia. He immigrated to Canada in 1952 and spent those first years in Calgary with family and friends (both new & old). It’s in Calgary where he met his wife of 58 years, Frances (Fran) June Holliday. In 1972 the family moved to the lower mainland. He and Fran settled in Tsawwassen and spent many years there before retiring in Parksville on Vancouver Island in 2000. It is on Vancouver Island where he finished his final journey in this life.

In his younger years when not working, Peter could be found water skiing at Gull Lake, traveling Canada and abroad, snow skiing in the Rockies, or dancing in Calgary with the German dance group the Schuhplattlers.

Peter’s passion for life was second to none. He respected all others’ opinions but always let you know where he stood. He loved to try out the latest gadget or newest technology – always embracing the innovation instead of fearing it. He adored taking pictures of family, friends, flowers, scenery and was often heard saying “just one more”. He loved to pull you into close conversations to ask about your life or give you free advice. He loved to tell stories from his younger years – many times recalling exactly what year some event had taken place. He will always be remembered for his broad smile, his booming voice and generous nature. He will be missed by many.

Peter is survived by his wife Fran, his son Jason, daughter-in-law Kristin and grandson Olin. 

A Graveside Service and Burial will take place on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 10:30am at Gardens of Gethsemani Cemetery, located at 15694 32 Avenue, Surrey BC V3Z 9V1.
