Philip “Phil” Michael Reid was born in 1956 in Toronto. He passed away on May 11, 2026, after a long journey with cancer.
Phil’s greatest love was his wife, Leslie (Throop), who predeceased him on January 6, 2026. Deeply missing her, he continued to live life with determination and hope, grateful for more time to live generously, enjoy his business, Power Rail Training and Consulting, and spend time with friends.
Phil worked for CN Rail for much of his life before starting his own company in the railroad industry. Through his work, he made many lasting connections, and his railroad friends — along with many others — will remember his genuine care for them and their families. His friends and family will especially miss his texts, jokes, and surprise food deliveries.
Phil is survived by his mother, Ruth; his sister, Jennifer (Gordon); his nephews, David (Megan) and Matthew (Raina); his great-niece, Charlotte; and his sister-in-law, Mary Anne Throop (Reinhard). He was predeceased by his wife, Leslie, in 2026; his father, Terry, in 1999; and his brother, David, in 1988.
There will be no memorial service for Phil but we hope you will remember him with a donation of any amount to St Paul’s Hospital. They took excellent care of Phil and his family are grateful for all of their expertise and kindness. https://helpstpauls.com/PhilipReid
