Quan Ren passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025 at 71 years old. He was born in Liaoning, China to his parents - Ren Yishan and Sun Qi on February 20, 2025. He has two older brothers and a younger sister. He is predeceased by his parents and his eldest brother.
Quan Ren grew up in Beijing, China and eventually got the opportunity to work, travel, and live all over the world including in Singapore, New York, Hong Kong, and many others cities. He eventually moved to Chicago, Illinois where he met his wife, Lin Wu and they had one daughter Elizabeth (Lisa) Ren. After the birth of his daughter, they moved to Canada first travelling through Toronto, ON and eventually settling in Vancouver, BC.
He loved cooking for people he loved, especially dishes from his hometown and childhood. His favourite thing to do was watching cooking shows and finding new recipes to make for his family. He also loved watching Chinese military dramas and police procedurals, while complaining about how inaccurate they are. He also loved driving his daughter around (while complaining about Vancouver roads) and spending time eating with her at different restaurants around Richmond.
He was the best storyteller. Everyone would always ask if Quan Ren was coming to a party because he always had the best stories, and when he was talking everyone would always listen. People always remembered the things he said.
He is survived by his wife, Lin and his daughter, Lisa.
Quan Ren’s family wants to thank the medical team at St. Paul’s Hospital and Vancouver General Hospital for helping him during the final months of his life. The family wants to give a special thank you to Brock Fahrni Pavilion Care Home, he spent the last three years of life at the care home and everyone there treated him so kindly. He loved it there and he had so many friends at the care home and he wished he got to spend his last moments there.
The family also wants to thank all of his family friends and other people in his support system for every meal that was delivered, every minute spent talking to him, and every joke shared with him. He always hoped that everyone knew how appreciative he was of the time everyone took to spend it with him.
His daughter always said that her Dad was fighter and he fought until the very end. She will always remember, and hope to emulate, his bravery.
Quan Ren would always say two things to his daughter: 放心吧, 你爸爸多坚强啊 and 当然啦,我是你爹. So, his daughter can say now “放心吧爸爸,你可以休息了.”
