Rita Gertrude (Kramer) Stewart

Rita affectionately known as “Grannie” / “Nana”,

passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, in Clover Heights, her home for the last several years, at the age of 99 years.

Mom was the youngest and last survivor of her nine siblings: August, Joseph, Matthew, Frank, Bill/William, Albert, Twins/Johnny and Louise and Mary, as well as her devoted husband, John (Jock) McNeil Stewart/August 3,1992 and daughter in law Sandy Marie/Reid/Stewart, November 6, 2001.

Rita was born in Ponoka Alberta moving to the west coast. She married Jock on July 19, 1954. She was an amazing wife, mother, sister and the best and dearest Grannie ever! Her life was full being a home maker and had other experiences working @ Great Western Steel and @ Woodwards Food Floor as a cashier. She would have her sons’ help her memorize the prices so she could be an efficient cashier and keep her customers happy. Jock was also a very busy husband with the Vancouver Fire Department and when he retired, they left Vancouver in the late 80’s to move out to Surrey/North Delta to Glenwood Village and spent many years there. Fond memories were walks, golfing @ Sunshine Hills Golf Course, travel which a highlight included walking on the Great Wall of China and trips to the Casino, many game nights, Christmas dinners with family while enjoying a glass of wine or happily sharing her stash of Kit Kat and chocolates she housed in her fridge. We truly believed she would have been the best “Mrs. Claus” with her lovely warm smile and rosy cheeks!

RIP Rita. We love you! You will be greatly missed.

At her request, there will be no service and her ashes will be scattered at Mountain View Cemetery, Vancouver B.C. next to her late husband Jock @ the Stewart family plot.
