On May 5, 2026, Captain Robert (Bob) Bard Randall passed away into the late sunny afternoon. He was surrounded by family. Bob was born March 18, 1933 in Regina, three months prematurely with his twin Howard (Ted) Edward. From his very first breath, he fought for every drop of life. This determination carried him through multiple life and health challenges.
He led a remarkable life as the son of a pioneer pilot. Flying was a family affair as his two brothers Howard and John as well as three of his children, Robert, Ted (James), and Katie also all became airline pilots. His passion for flight began as a child, first in model airplane pursuits, and later at 12 years old he joined air cadets, charting the flight plan for his career to come. He became a master craftsman building model airplanes and developed exceptional aviation skills in his career. In April 1952 he joined Canadian Pacific Airlines at the Edmonton base. In 1954 he moved to Vancouver and began flying overseas routes. Bob loved the adventure of going to new places and seeing the world from the sky. His flying career began with Canadian Pacific Airlines (CPA), then CP Air which merged to become Canadian Airlines International and included work as a check pilot. He was CP Air's base Captain in Lima, Peru for seven years (1980-87).
Bob was predeceased by his mother, Hilda Margaret Randall (nee Bard) 2004, Father, Robert Cheetham Randall 2004 and many family members and friends. His surviving siblings are his twin brother Howard (Ted) Edward Randall, Beverly Joan Eales and John Arthur Randall. Bob is survived by his six children with four children from his marriage to Dorothy Randall (nee Meyer, m. 1957 to 1976): twins Robert Randall (Diane) and James Edward Randall (Libby Walker), Patricia Andrea Randall, Lisa Margaret Randall (Anthony Riddle), and two children from his marriage with Eileen Randall (nee Fullerton), Kathleen (Katie) Anne Randall (Becky Hynes) and Cristina Lynne Randall (Andrew Fu), his grandchildren Laura Randall, Dakota Randall-Duke (Joshua Anastasakis), Evan Randall, Theodore Randall-Hynes, Carmen Randall-Hynes, Lucas Randall-Fu, Maya Randall-Fu, his step-grandchildren Lindsay (Rob), Tavis White (Jodi), Brooke Thomas (Terrance Allison Jr.), and step-great-grandchild Rowan.
Over the years, Bob generously gathered family together at his beloved summer home. There, he enjoyed using his skills building sailing and motorboats, taught us all to boat safely, water ski, sail, and spent lots of summer Sundays racing Geary 18's with the Cultus Lake Yacht club.
Family gathered to bid him farewell at the departure gate of life and he set out on his final flight at 4:15 pm on May 5, 2026.
Dad, Bob, you are forever in our hearts. May the sky open wide for your journey into the Great Mystery.
A celebration of life will be held for Bob, date to be determined. If you are interested in attending, leave a message below under the "Guestbook" section, and then click the "Submit Post" button.
The family is grateful to the current and former staff of Westminster House in White Rock for their care of Bob over the last years.
